Positions Opening:
Enterprise Information Solutions, Inc. currently has the following positions available:

GIS Technician


Requires B.S. in Geography or Geographical Information Systems with two years of professional experience or M.S. with 0 years experience. Position also requires high-level knowledge of ESRI's ArcGIS application; full understanding of how data is stored in the Geodatabase model; ability to create and edit GIS data; understanding of Geodatabase topology; understanding of Geodatabase domains; ability to use the ArcGIS extension PLTS; basic understanding of the pavement rating system used by eRoadInfo; ability to work independently. Will be responsible for Geodatabase design, data migration and change detection. Duties include: create feature classes; define coded value domains; migrate original Geodatabase into new format; check data for inconsistencies; check that all coded value domains were correctly populated; Locate areas of difference between current orthophotagraphy and previous ones using PLTS GIS Data ReViewer; modify road centerline layer to make it consistent with new photos. Other responsibilities include: research and collect data from Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Department of Planning and Maryland State Highway Administration; identify critical layer for the area under study and make a list with a description of their characteristics; rate pavement using the Enter Road Info software; check for roads without pavement rating and identify possible inconsistencies.

Road Inventory Data Collector

This position will function as the data recorder on a 2 person road inventory crew. The road inventory crew is responsible for driving the roads in a vehicle equipped with a laptop, a distance measuring instrument (DMI), and a Global Positioning System (GPS) unit to collect, update, and verify the road inventory database using the Road Inventory Data Entry (RIDE) system.

Scope of Duties: Duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Field work with Eastern Maryland Counties: Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne?s, Caroline, Dorchester, Wicomico, Somerset, and Worcester.
  • State Highway Field Inventory ? verification of all roadway data on the State Road System within an assigned county.
  • Working knowledge of GPS used to collect centerline data in real time GPS on all roads.
  • Completion of the Improvement Cycle ? the verification of existing roadway data, in addition to, collecting new roads and updating corresponding information as established by the SHA.
  • Training will be provided to the successful candidate.
  • Overnight stays may be required.
